Madrid, 19 July 2022.- Surely on many occasions you have wondered where the whole universe of zeros and ones that make up the Internet is housed. Something ethereal that nobody really knows where it resides. A complex cloud of data that we climb on every day but which, at the same time, needs solid foundations on earth. Precisely, one of these foundations are the so-called data centers , physical spaces where all the information is stored and from where it is sent to its final destination with the lowest possible latency.
The traditional data center structure has evolved into a more complex and diverse architecture that includes proprietary facilities, colocation services, public cloud, advanced connectivity and edge computing."
One of the phenomena that has been accelerated by the pandemic has been the digital transformation of companies with the consequent need for more storage capacity and data transmission to the cloud. This acceleration in the adoption of cloud services requires more physical and virtual infrastructure to meet these new needs.
“CLOUD FIRST” APPROACH
Against this new backdrop, the traditional data centre structure has evolved into a more complex and diverse architecture that includes proprietary facilities, colocation services, public cloud, advanced connectivity and edge computing.
Data centre functions no longer fall within the traditional four physical walls of a building. Now, the entire infrastructure must be viewed as a hybrid cloud operating model that helps generate efficient, simple, agile and secure operations.
In the report "How to evolve your physical data centre to a modern operating model”Gartner® states that: "As-a-service models are common in public cloud deployments due to ease of scale, pay-for-consumption pricing and the elimination of hardware asset ownership. There is a growing interest in and adoption of these models on-premises as well. On-premises consumption-based models place hardware and software on-site and utilize different levels of third-party management, depending on which service type is utilized."
According to Gartner®, "By 2025, 40% of newly procured premises-based compute and storage will be consumed as a service, up from less than 10% in 2021.
By 2025, 70% of organizations will implement structured infrastructure automation to deliver flexibility and efficiency, up from 20% in 2021."
OUR GLOBAL COLOCATION SERVICE
The new digital paradigm born of the pandemic requires a technological infrastructure with a high level of security and availability. In this sense, the speed of infrastructure deployment is becoming as relevant as the environment in which it is located.
This is the idea behind the concept of "Just-In-Time Infrastructure** listed by Gartner as one of the trends in the area of I&O in 2022.
The concept stems from the term "just-in-time manufacturing" and the aim of this trend is to reduce infrastructure deployment times, as well as to boost the company's responsiveness to business needs and operations in any location. And in this sense colocation stands out as one of the most qualified options.
At Telefónica Global Solutions we are aware of this growing need of companies and, therefore, we offer our customers connection to our Tier-1 backbone and distributed fibre optic systems covering more than 65,000 km around the world from our data centres in Miami (KeyCenter™), Brazil (Tamboré), Spain (Alcalá) and the United Kingdom (London) as well as access to our network of partners which means an additional coverage of more than 200 cities and, approximately, more than 400 data centres.
We take care of your business. We know how crucial it is for your company to focus on what matters most. In this sense, at Telefónica Global Solutions, we have developed an integrated and competitive portfolio that allows us to incorporate to the global colocation and data centre services, other solutions such as international voice, IP, bandwidth capacity, satellite services, mobility, corporate platforms and global solutions.
Our services are designed to help you protect your company's most valuable assets anywhere in the world, helping you to focus on what really matters: make your company grow.
